I love the great infomal billows of grasses and perennials designed by Piet Oudolf. I love the modern take on an old layout with Tom Stuart-Smiths' planting scheme in the Italianate garden. And who could disagree with Capability Brown's ability to nestle a lake seemlessly into the landscape, enticing you to discover what lies around the next bend.
For those designers amongst you, this place has to go on your 'must see' list. Not just because it is a brilliant example of restoring a historic estate but also because it exhibits each of the designers' trademark work so beautifully. It combination just works so well.
If you have never visited Trentham Gardens before, visit now. It looks magical (and no they are not paying me to say so!)
