Each school has the same maximum budget and all of the plants have to be grown at the school, not bought in - an amazing feat in itself as anyone who has grown plants for a show garden will tell you. The theme this year is Storybooks and you can see how the children have brought them alive.
There are some amazingly simple ideas in these gardens - Who would have thought that a kitchen cullinder could become an amazing jellyfish glistening in the sun? Or that planters sprayed sliver with Cineraria beneath could create the illusion of snow so effectively?
Some of the planting schemes are also excellent. Just look at the naturalistic planting in The Midsummer's Nights Dream Garden and you will see that it is as good as any Show Garden.
So if you come to Tatton, don't bypass the schools gardens - they are creative, colourful and full of talent!
