The first moment you lay eyes on a patch of ground at an RHS Showground is odd - it either looks enormous or tiny - but it always looks totally uninspiring!
None of the heavy items can be moved by the school children (who join me on site later this week) so all of the deliveries and some of the garden had to take shape today.
By the end of the day all of the plants had arrived, the edging was completed, the chimney pots were in place and the large trees and grapevine were in situ.
