We dug over the soil, hunted for mini-beasts and counted worms, planted strawberry plants and sowed cornflower and poppy seeds in the beds. We then went inside and made a pinecone bird feeder to hang in a tree at home (using lard, cornmeal and bird seed) and made some creepy crawly craft in the form of eggbox catterpillars.
The previous week had been very rainy so we were not able to see the garden but we decorated plant pots and sowed cut and come again salad mix, which was already growing in the children's pots this week.
Next week we will be meeting at the Church Road Community Garden at 1pm and discovering what grows in the allotments there as well as making some things to take home.
I hope to run the course again in the Spring and Summer, so do keep an eye out if you missed it this time!
