Andy Sturgeon was, like last time, really lovely to talk to. He spent some time discussing the planting plan with me and, as I was still missing them, I picked his brains about the best way to use the Nandina domestica. I discovered that some of the plants I am using were often used his designs, and this gave me the confidence to stick to my original plan.
Dave, Amy and Simon joined us on site again today. They levelled and lay the paving slabs, - a tricky job on sloping ground. The paving will eventually soften in amongst the gravel and be softened by the plants.
The Nandina domestica finally arrived, 6 hours later than planned! At 45L they are big specimens (and rather heavy). They weren't as tall as we expected, and much wider but after a few hours of moving them left, right, up, down and back again...I gave up and slept on the decision of where to use them...maybe tomorrow will bring a flash of inspiration!
