Each group produced a mind map about that person, including foodstuffs that were grown and eaten in the country where their family lived in the 1920's. Many different countries were represented in this single session from Bangladesh and Sweden to Pakistan, England and Georgia. It illustrated the huge multi-cultural mix of children now at the school compared to when it first opened (when the majority were from Manchester-based families in the 1920's) and this gave us another big idea for our garden - to somehow show this change in international roots.
The name of 'Around the World in a Manchester Garden' was chosen for the show garden to reflect this.
The information will be used to gather ideas for the garden; specifically about plants that could be used.
