Today I presented a concept plan and mood boards which suggested creating three distinct but connected areas all based on flowing curves - an area featuring traditional brick built raised beds; an international growing area featuring a Keyhole Garden (see sendacow.org.uk for details) and a wildlife meadow area with a grove of dwarf fruit trees. Bug hotels, bird boxes, log piles and ladybird houses will all find a home in the new garden.
The plan was well received and excitement began to ripple through the school to various teachers involved in the project. I left them with a pile of post-it-notes for children and teachers to make comments and will retun in a few weeks to see if any changes are suggested.
In the meantime, we may have found a cost effective (and legal!) solution to getting rid of the tarmac currently covering the ground...I will keep you posted!
