Today we learnt all about mini-beasts and insects and discovered all about butterflies. Then it was time to get messy! Out came the paint, glitter, glue and stickers and butterfly wings in all the colours of the rainbow were created. We then made paper-plate flowers with cups in the centre and learned that butterflies drink nectar from the flowers much the same as we drink water through a straw, which all the children loved trying out, wings in place of course!
We sowed a mixture of perennials and annuals good for butterflies in pots to take home, illustrating the ease in which flowers good for butterflies can be grown in the garden.
So next time you are wondering what to do to encourage your childs' imagination, try some nature pretend!
